    Hi All,

Execpt my crappy Acer, i also have HP Pavillion DV5-1160, its a European model. I bought it second hand, and its still in good condition. I get a 1,5 hour of browsing time on the battery, and it ain't overheating (yet).

But now I would like to get some more performance from the Laptop.
First thing I did was upgrading the HDD to a SSD, OCZ vertex 2, 128gb. After that, my intentions where to upgrade the Memmory of the device. But this was a no go! I had laying around a 2x2gb pc6400 kingston 4-4-12 memory set, but when this was installed, the screen stay's black and the Laptop won't boot. (any working around for this? Like a custom bios or something?)

I went looking for more opportunities and found out that the North Bridge: Intel Cantiga PM45: Can take up to 8gb of MEM, at 1066mhz. Also the CPU has a FSB of 1066mhz. So, in this case, what memory can I place, and will it make the laptop still able to boot??

At last, I was looking around for a screen upgrade, but I found out that this is quite a fiddly job, is there someone who allready tried to mount a 1920x1200 screen (because the ratio is 16:10) and last at all, if it is possible, where to get such a screen?

    thanks in advance!

I set sail to the idea of the screen, to many complications, So I orderd a T9400 proc with the Socket P. Now I hope that the Laptop will accept the proc.

Is there a custom bios for my laptop??
