    My 2 years old dv6000 display yesterday started to show a thin yellow vertical line about 2 inch from the right of the screen which run from top to bottom, and after a bit of googling, I found out it's unrepairable and I need to replace the screen :(

    Anyway, after reading some of the threads on this forum, it seems to me that it's possible to replace the screen with a higher resolution one, albeit on dv9XXX ones. Has anyone done this upgrade on dv6XXX? And what screen (spare parts no/maker) did you get? Was there any 'misfit' with the hinge/panel/connector/inverter?

    Thanks

    Vidcard=NVIDIA Go 7400
    Screen =15.4" WXGA HighGloss BrightView
    Screen max resolution=1280X800

    You will not be able to fit a 17" dv9000 screen into a 15.4" dv6000. It will not physically fit.

    Did you try hooking up the computer to an external monitor? Because I think the video card might be the problem, which would require an equally expensive motherboard replacement.

    I am trying to find a 15.4" screen with resolution higher than 1280X800, eg 1440x900, 1650X1050, not a 17" screen ;) sorry for the confusion

    Go to SmartMicroUSA find your model and filter by choosing price highest first.
    You should find a link to a WSXGA+ screen for your notebook I think....
