I have a 3 year old Maxtor OnTouch external drive connected to my DV9335NR. The capacity of the drive is 120gb my I would like to take apart the case and install a larger 300-500gb drive. Anyone know if this is possible?

It's possible. The only thing to keep in mind is if the external drive board will accept drives larger that 120GB. Some external drives, usually the old, are not compatible with drives larger than 120GB. If you put in 160GB it'll only see 120GB.

I'm going to bet that the Hard Drive inside there is an IDE, as most of the externals HDDs are. So make sure you open it up and check the Hard Drive type before you go and buy another one.

I've used a decent amount of external HDDs and swapped out the HDDs a lot. In my experiences I haven't had any trouble with the HDD size, so you should be fine.
