I have a few questions about upgrading the hard drive on my HP nc6000 Where is the hard drive located? How do I remove the hard drive once I find it? What hard drive would you recommend? Do I need to buy a kit to transfer the data from the old hard drive to the new?
    Thanks for your inputs.

This site has the service manual for your notebook. It should give you all the information you need to upgrade your hard drive.

Do a search on hard drives in the forums and you'll find quite a few recommendations.

There is an adapeter you can use to attach notebook drives to desktop machines. You can use it to transfer data. I would recommend Norton Ghost to create a drive image from your laptop to a desktop then replace the hard drive and do a resore of the image. Ghost is so useful you'll use it much more than you will the notebook IDE adapter.

    Good Luck
