I have a friend who has the dv9548us and is wondering if he could upgrade the processor himself. Here's a list of his specs:
dv9548us
Processor: t5450 @ 1.66GHz
Code Name: Merom
Motherboard
Manufacturer: Quanta
Model: 30CB 79.13
Chipset: Intel PM965
Rev.: C0
Southbridge: Intel 82891HBM (ICH8-ME)
BIOS
Brand: Hewlett-Packard
Version: F.09
Date: 06/11/07
Grahic Interface

Also how hard is the process? If it's doable but not recommended for normal users I'll just do it for him.

This should be doable. I just upgraded my DV9500t CTO notebook. It is a pain, but can be done. You have to dismantle the whole computer since the processor is mounted on the bottom of the system board. Another thread here has the links to both the service manual, and videos that will show you how to do it, from the HP website.

Awesome, reps for someone finally answering! Mind linking the said thread?
