Does anyone know how easy it is to upgrade DVD/BluRay drives on the DV5T?

My crystal ball tells me Blu-Ray players will become a lot cheaper in the near future and I'm wondering how feasible it would be to wait 6-8 months upgrade to a Blu-Ray player then.

Since the drive pay is placed at the front of the laptop (curved plate), I'm assuming I'd have to buy the drive direct from HP right?

If its not going to be easy to upgrade I might just bite the bullet and add the Blu-Ray drive to my configuration.

    I'd appreciate any advice! :)

My guess is yes, you probably would have to order it from hp, if they would even let you. you may be able to take off the plate since its plastic and all, and glue it to the new drive. Personally i would go for the blu-ray now and save the time and trouble. Thats my 2cents.

My thought is by the time BluRay drives are sub $100 its going to be time for a new laptop... BD are $150 right now from HP, my suggestion is to save your money and hold off buying a system. Don't buy the laptop until you can easily afford the BD if thats your ultimate goal to add a BD... Do it at the time of purchase

    Just my 2cent ramblings

I don't see why HP wouldn't let you upgrade it provided you buy it from them, however, I highly doubt it'll come cheap like when it comes with a system there is probably an internal discount of 25-50 bucks
