Oh well, a HP Envy 14 cost around USD3000 in Singapore. The original price was SGD3500, and because of the Xmas period, they offerd this bundle.

Still too darn expensive for me though but I'd figured I would just check if I got myself a good deal, :p

Anyway the link you provided, is only for USA residents right? I am staying in Singapore, not sure if HP ships to my country?

Living in China, I feel your pain on the high prices of computers. I would say that, given the fact that you're in Singapore and computers are generally more expensive, that's a decent deal, and it's probably one of the last places you can get a new E14 with the slick Radiance Display, but I would only recommend paying that much for that computer if it came with the slice battery and/or an SSD. To keep things in perspective, mine came with both for less than the one you're looking at, and that's before the 30% cash rebate I was able to claim (I bought it Stateside over the summer).

Hello there, I am currently in Suzhou and will be here till Jan next year. And nope, your recommendations are sadly not present in that configuration. It's the 500GB, 7200rpm HDD with the normal battery...

Honestly, what troubled me was the 2GB RAM, simply too little. Of course one would argue that RAM is cheap and easy to upgrade. However, I don't fancy the idea of paying extra for something that's already quite expensive. The upside is of course they bundled the 3year warranty plus a 500GB portable HDD...

Anyway, may I know where in China did you purchase your notebook for and the cost of it.

    Thanks!

That is true, if you do not take into account the cost of air tickets, and possibly lodgings.

But well, I think I am overanalysing your statement :p

Spicewood, stop posting in every thread complaining about how much you hate the Envy. We get it. Just because you had a bad experience with them doesn't make it bad. You're not even answering any questions or adding anything to this conversation.

On topic: I would advise getting a longer warranty for any situation.

Well, the difference is $1000, so if you get 2 and then sell one to someone ;) Then you can even make some money. ;))

But what are the Custom tax for importing? Maybe it's worth buying online and pay the tax.
