    Usb 3.0 Curiosity.

    Hi everyone just a quick question. i have the latest dark umber Hp pavilion dv6 and when i look to the right 2 usb ports they dont have that blue outline that several picture before show for the usb 3.0 port. is it just a gimmick or is it suppose to have it? thanks in advance for your replies!

    The item is listed as having only 2 USB 3.0s. These are on the left. The ones on the right are the standard USB 2.0s.

    so the ones on the left are suppose to have that blue color in them?

    They don't need to color it blue. HP decided to keep them the same color. Similarly the VGA port is typically blue, but they went with gray. If you look under the port you will see the SS and USB symbol. This stands for Super Speed which is the other name for USB 3.0.

    And if that's not enough you can see a difference in the connector of the USB 3.0 on the left side of the Computer and the 2.0 on the right side.

    USB2.0 should have 4 pin connectors only and USB3.0 should have 5 pin connectors. You should be able to see the metal thingy inside in port

    man was i scared at first when i didn't see the blue color...but thanks guys, your posts makes sense now...i do see the "SS" sign and the 5 pin connectors...

    wow what a relief...i was gonna return a usb 3.0 HD that i just bought... :D
