    Use a 19V charger instead of 18.5?

    I have a dv1000, the chargers i found online use a 18.5v charger, i have a 19v charger for another hp which can provide enough current to run it.

    Will running at the higher voltage damage it?

    From the voltage alone, It will be perfectly fine. The tolerances are much higher than that. But for the rest, I don't know (connectors, power...).

    Check the amps.. those need to be similar

    well, amps/mA need to be equal or higher than original charger
