Is there anyway to reassign the quicklaunch buttons for other apps? IE- MCE?

I did a fresh install of Vista and I no longer have the quickplay, I also don't plan on reinstalling it and I'd rather use the buttons for something else.

Well, try installing the older version(6.10A) of the Quicklaunch buttons. HP seems to have removed customization features from the latest version(6.10B). But do remember that 6.10A is not officially Vista compatible but I dont think there should be any issues because of that.

The current version is actually 6.10C, but there's no customisable features yet. If you dig around the help files it talks about how to customise them, but the features aren't in place at this time. So I'm pretty sure this will be fixed for a later version.

what version of windows are you using?

under xp, go to the control panel and look for the rocket icon. open is and you can pick the program to associate with one of the few buttons available.

under vista, there is a separate application that is installed (quickplay 3.0 version) look for it on the all programs menu.

I tried installing the 6.10A version and the icon showed up just fine in the system tray. However, when I tried actually customizing the applications to launch. When I tried pressing the buttons it acts like I never even pressed any buttons.

Can anyone else confirm this same problem with 6.10A on Vista?

The 6.10A drivers aren't really Vista compatible. That control panel was only designed for XP. You could try messing around with the actual driver file properties, setting the control app to run in XP mode and/or as an administrator, but I'm not sure how much luck you'll have.
