I just received an HP Compaq nw8440 and I am thoroughly impressed. I will post a more detailed review over the weekend but wanted to let everyone know that I achieved a SuperPi 2M time of 1:10s!
The configuration I have is Intel Core Duo T2600, 1GB 533 RAM, 80 GB 5400 HD, WSXGA+, ATI Mobility FireGL v5200. (Replacing HD with Hitachi 7K100 100GB 7200 and 2GB 667 RAM over weekend.)
Look for my upcoming review...

Wow, cool. Congratulations on your purchase!

I saw this after posting a question about this very model over in the "Which notebook .." forum. I've been debating between this and the Lenovo T60p. Needless to say I will be anxious to read your review!
On the plus side of the HP is the lower weight and one can get it with a higher res. display. It is however more expensive than is the T60p (which at the moment is on sale) and I've no idea about the build quality of HP business notebooks. On the plus side of the Lenovo Thinkpad is their reputation, high build quality, and I know that the keyboards are excellent on them. And it is on sale. -
Chelsel,
Hurry up with the review! There are several people who are wondering about that machine! In particular, please let us know about build quality, noise and heat.

By all means, please post a review also! When is it due to ship? -

Congratulations on your purchase.
Nightstorm: Out of those two, I myself would get the T60P, I'd say it has a better screen and it costs a bit less at the moment. -
Reize,
That is my inclination but I was kind-of-hoping to see a review of the nw8440 prior to the sale ending this week. -
Also, when you post your review, please of course run 3DMark05... lots of pictures, and your impression of BF2 performance...
Now, I think I am just waiting until I need this machine, considering I have superfast desktop machine with GF6800 gs 256mb graphics and a completely serviceable, usable Omnibook 6100 w/SXGA screen, gb of memory, and upgraded 60gb 5400 rpm hd. It's superpi sucks (~5 minutes) but it plays movies/TV shows great, and does a great job as a GPS unit, etc. -
Whats the screen like?.
