I noticed that over at laptopvideo2go.com the latest laptop driver is version 169.09 for Windows XP 32 bit. While over at the Nvidia site the latest desktop driver version is 175.16 for Windows XP 32bit. My question is would I end up hurting the laptop in the long run by installing these drivers verses the laptop ones.
To install Desktop drivers in the past on a Laptop before I knew of laptopvideo2go.com I would do the following.
1. Install the driver to a directory such as C:\NVIDIA\Win2k\175.16\English (the install then errors telling you no appropriate card was found)
2. Right clicking the mouse on the desktop and selecting properties>settings>Advanced>Adapter>Properties.
3. Driver tab>Update driver, selecting no, not at this time (click next), Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) (click next).
4. Don't search. I will choose the driver to install. Click on have disk and navigate to C:\NVIDIA\Win2k\175.16\English.
5. Select nv4_disp.inf from the folder, and then selecting the 8400 GS (desktop) vs. the 8400m GS (laptop). About 4 different 8400 GS's are listed as a device driver.
6. Select one of them and click next, the driver is then installed.
The desktop drivers updated my Nvidia control panel to a newer version than the laptop one I noticed as well.

Actually your looking in the wrong section of lv2go.com . The main page will only show up to 169.09 but if you go to the forum its up to 175.xx . They really need to update that.
