I am posting this for a friend of mine who bought this laptop in the US for use in India. The adapter says 120-240 volts. Can he use it in India without a converter? Is a surge protector must for use in India? Can someone please help? Thank you.

I don't know much other than that my friend brought a surge protector for her notebook to India. I don't know what kind of power they use over there, but the more safety the better when you don't know what kind of current your dealing with.

Yes HP notebooks can be used worldwide. You will just need the adapter to fit the wall sockets over there.

Its best you purchase a surge protector when traveling. Some countries are prone to having unstable electricity.
