I intend to use HP DV2500t laptop as Media Center and have it on 24x7. Has anyone else done or doing that? How reliable are they to run 24x7?

You should make the subject of your thread represent the thread body; if you're asking about the DV2500t you should mention the DV2500t. "HP laptops" is a much broader set of laptops than the HP Pavilion line, the current HP Pavilion line, or all laptops sold with the HP name (which includes the very different HP Compaq business notebooks.)

With that said you will be fine if the notebook is able to adequately cool itself.

Eventually, certain programs will have memory leaks and consume an inordinate amount of your memory or resources. Certain programs that you think you close might still have sub-processes running and also cut into your overall memory. So, yes, you can run it continuously but after awhile you'll find that it's getting slower over time.
