I found a way to turn the quick launch button 'DVD' key to open Winamp. This also turns the Mini-Remote's DVD button turns into Winamp. Its method is not exactly the best way to do it, but it works a treat. Its quite handy specially when the notebook is closed and you just wanna listen to music using the mini remote.

    Tested using:
    -HP Pavilion DV2500
    -QuickPlay 3.2
-Vista x64 Home premium (32bit should work too)
    -Winamp 5.531 installer
    - QLB button driver v6.40B

No guarantee it will work for yours due to the variable differences in our systems

Before you begin, i suggest making backups or system restore point as i dont wanna be responsible for anything. Make sure you have the QP installation file at hand so you can just re-install it if something wrong happens.

    Okay lets begin:

    1) Install Winamp make sure the installation path is exactly as follows (32bit): "C:\Program Files\HP\QuickPlay"

-The default installation path in the setup will have a "\Winamp" which will create a seperate winamp folder, which we dont want. Your paths might vary, please change it accordingly if neccessary

    2) In the Quickplay directory, Create a folder called backup

    3) Locate DVDP.exe and powrproff.dll > Cut and move these 2 files into the backup folder. If something goes wrong you can either revert back to these or do a complete install of QP

    4) Now Rename winamp.exe to DVDP.exe. This will launch Winamp instead of QP DVD player.

    5) Now test it out by using either the mini remote or the QLButton

Make sure you tweak the settings in winamp when your all done (global hotkeys, etc.). Im still researching on how to do it properly.
