Hi
I heard you can use Quickplay and watch dvd's without loading windows at all for quick easy access. But when I tried pressing my quickplay quicklaunch button while the computer is off . It still loads up windows and only opens up after i log in
Is there a setting so that i can load up movies or mp3's without going thru vista?
Thanks

It doesn't work in Vista. Only XP.

y would they even include it as an option in vista then? that sucks

Why do you ask rhetorical questions? Take it as it is. It's your money, HP isn't robbing you, you choose to buy their laptops.

Well it would be nice if something YOU payed for with hard earned money actually worked to an extent.
Anyway to fix this problem? Im pretty sure i saw this feature on the hp website/brochures on vista models. -
No, Quickplay cannot boot the system if you're using Vista. If this is a deal-breaker for you, return the system.

I was quite disappointed as well when I learned that my vista laptop would not boot directly to QuickPlay. Is the reason for this Vista or HP?
It would be really nice if HP, MS, or some brilliant coder allowed booting directly into Media Center using the QuickPlay button. -
all i was sayin is that it does suck. no.its not a deal breaker but it would have been nice if it worked due to the fact that they do include it in the vista os's.. and nobody said anything about anyone robbing us

I know it doesn't solve the problem, but if you put your system into sleep mode, the bootup is pretty fast, probably quick enough to make it not an issue.

I was also under the impression that I could use quickplay with my new dv9500. I was pretty disappointed when I found out it didn't work with vista. Although perhaps I should have been better informed, I think it is less than transparent advertising by HP.

Anyone care to start action to HP for a possible tweak?
This would be really handy specially on the train home from work. It would save alot of time and battery. -
None of the auto-boot stuff works with Vista. Including the Asus version I have in my laptop. But honestly, how long is it taking you guys to power up your laptops? It shouldn't be more than a minute to be able to watch a DVD.

Hmm well lets see.. including the bloatware HP included... about 3-4mins.
I mean i could really solve that long booting problem if hp included a damn Vista DVD for a clean install. -
They used to, guess they cut back to trim costs. Can't really blame em.
