    Hi,

Does anyone know if I can buy a HP Pavillion laptop in the US and then use it with a 3G connection in the UK using a UK SIM card (i.e. using the built-in WWAN and just inserting a SIM)? Also, does the integrated TV tuner work in the UK if I buy it in the US?

    Thanks very much,

    Brian

Thanks for the reply. I am more focused on the 3G capabilities - the TV would just be a nice to have. I guess there are two components to ensuring the 3G works - the technology being compatible and the SIM card slot being the same. In Europe, we have SIM cards which are approximately 2cm x 1cm. Is there a slot for such a card in the HP US laptops?

    Thanks very much

Overseas GSM carriers use different frequencies for their 3G and unless your 3G card supports those freqs which is highly unlikely, it won't work.

As far as the TV tuner goes... the UK uses PAL, we use NTSC. You won't be able to view analog TV signals, but I don't know how PAL/NTSC figures into the HDTV side of it.
