So my HP G60 laptop was purchased in Canada and its been here ever since, but since I need to make a trip to China in a month.

I was wondering would I need a power converter for my power brick, since the power output is different in these two regions of the world.

I read that having "INPUT: 100 ~ 240 Volts 1.5 Amps 50 - 60 Hz" written on your power brick means universal, but mine is INPUT: 100 ~ 240 Volts 1.7 Amps 50 - 60 Hz, would the 1.7amps make any difference?

You don't need a converter, your power brick will work fine. You probably need to get an adapter for the plug to fit into an outlet in China though.

The 1.5 or 1.7 amp rating doesn't make any difference as long as the brick works with your laptop.
