    Good day

I have a dv6000 series notebook (Win XP, C2D T5500 & 1 Gig ram). When I use the notebook at home it functions as a stand alone PC. I have an external LCD monitor connected and a USB hub that connects my other peripherals (keyboard, mouse etc.). Will the notebook screen sustain heat damage if I close the notebook (lid) during operation since there is a fair amount of heat that normally escapes from the palm rest area.

Am I also able to disable the standby and hibernate functions so that the notebook continues to function even after closing the lid.

    Thanks :)

Yullin123: you can disable the hibernating/standby feature when you close the lid.

1). Click on the battery icon in the windows taskbar and click the "More Power Options" link.

2). Under the power plan you have chosen, click the "Change plan settings" link.

3). Click the "change advanced power settings" link near the bottom of the page.

4). Scroll down to the "Power buttons and lid" category and click the check mark next to it to expand it

5). Expand the "Close lid action" subcategory under that

6). Under the option you want (either when on Battery or plugged in) choose "Do Nothing" from the drop down menu

    7). Click apply

8). Click save changes in the power settings windows (if applicable).

Now when you close the lid, only the display is turned off, the computer will continue to function as before.
