    Hi all!

I'm a long time NBR reader, but have never really posted anything before.

I bought the DV7t QE, which arrived just in time for my birthday. :D

I've been planning on getting a Dell U2711, but much to my dismay I noticed that my new laptop only has VGA and HDMI (Unless I missed something?). :(

I looked into it, and it appears that the newest Pavilions use HDMI 1.4, which should theoretically be able to bust that 1920x1080 cap.

My question is, what monitors -- if any -- can use HDMI for above 1080p resolutions? Preferably I want a monitor in the 27-30 inch realm.

Please help, I don't want to have to return my precious. :\

    Thanks,

    Sean

Well in that case, how bad does 1080p look on, say, a U2711 or equivalent?

My ideal setup is that my laptop and desktop will be sharing a single monitor: the desktop using DVI-D, and the laptop using HDMI.

Thinking about it, even if it could display the resolution, it probably wouldn't be that smooth on the laptop.

That's weird, the hdmi 1.4 spec should allow it reach over 4k res

One would thinks so looking at the HDMI 1.4 specs.

Here is the rest of the info from AMD because I left out a few details.

I have a Dell 24" LCD running at 1920x1080 and it's gorgeous. I plan on just swapping my old lappy with the dv7 next week when I get it. With 1920x1080 being the native resolution I'm guessing it should look just as good. HDMI 1.4's hardware limit is 4096×2160. I'm surprised HP/AMD hold it back.

@Otacon, I love your username; MGS is one of my favorite game series. :D

@vorob, Could you explain this a little more? Or better yet, take a picture of your laptop running on the U2711 over HDMI? I've got a lot of graduation money that might be going toward a new monitor. ;P
