    Hey HP forum,

I recently purchased a dv2-1027ca. It's the barebones Canadian model with Vista Home Basic.

Being unable to make a recovery disk due to the lack of optical drive, I made a backup on my external HD and then installed Win7. As it turns out Win7 runs slower and choppier than Vista on the machine for whatever reason and out of comfort, I planned to revert back to Vista.

The problem is that the recovery partition is refusing to activate. F11 doesn't work and there is no "recovery manager" in the start menu. The backup I made on the external restored everything but the operating system. I was considering formatting the C drive and trying to restore via the D drive(aka recovery partition) but was afraid this would cause more problems.

There there anything that I can do to get Vista back?

Thanks in advance for the help.
