    Check this out: http://www.zv6000forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=309

Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems to me we all knew what we bought, when we bought it. I did a month of research before I bought my zv6005us. I knew it came with XP Home and no promise of XP64. I knew it came with 2700 single channel memmory with no promise of anything else working. For the price, I sure didn't expect a super gaming machine, even though it plays everything I like to play. We all got what we paid for, a reasonably priced system that handles most tasks fairly well. With minimul upgrades it will do even better. I don't mean to sound disrespectful, but I believe I speak the truth. Before I bought the computer, I read everything I could find, including the Service and repair manual.

    Thanks, Cope

It amazes me that our society thrives on refusing to take resposibility.

If you bought a zv6005us (most for well under $1500.00) and didn't do your research first, get over it and take responsibility for your mistake and stop blaming HP.

I'm not sure why some find it necessary to call HP support to ask questions the techs shouldn't have to answer.
What speakers do you have? You should have asked before you put your money down. The complaints are out of control and not warranted.

Please stop calling HP for no reason, so those of us with legit questions can get through.

I thought you would have more to say! Thanks for the compliment. Bought the hard drive and RAM after the fact.

Yes, in fact, I'm with u on this 100%....But, only because I require VERY little from my laptop. ALL I EVER use it for is light word processing, web browsing, email, dvd/cd burning. Thus, dual-channel being enabled or disabled makes no difference to me personally. In addition, I had no idea what a socket or sodimm or anything was just 10weeks ago. I simply learned from forums like this once I heard that OD was promoting the zv6000 series. ANYWAY you slice it, these notebooks are SPECTACULAR!

I'm especially growing tired of complaints of the speaker brand & gaming performance -- or lack there of (for both). Another good one is the fact that there is an always-on fan...give me a break, I still CANNOT even hear mine (And yes, I'm in a silent room!) This was/is NOT marketed or touted as a gaming system nor a mobile processor.

One thing that surely isn't unwarranted...this thread ;)

I agree with you guys about the amount of complaints this machine has gotten, but I'm actually glad they did complain (especially those guys that really got to the bottom of the disabled dual channel capability), because I've learned a lot from reading all those threads. Now that I know that the AMD 64 CPU in our notebooks is capable of more than what HP intended for them, it's definitely something I would look for in the future.

After living with the zv6000 for over 5 weeks now I would give it a B+. Don't get me wrong. I love this machine and I think my money was well spent. I really thought the 128MB dedicated GPU would make a huge difference in being able to play Doom 3 well, but now I know that there are many different levels of "128MB" thanks to the very people who *****ed and moaned about it.

Because I also own the ZV5220 I can't help but compare the two machines. Yes, that always-on fan can be at times annoying because the only silent fan is one that isn't running. Those insomniacs that surf the net in the wee hours of the morning know what I'm talking about.

What I'm trying to say is don't be so harsh on the people that ***** and moan a lot, because they are the ones that push companies like HP to do better and in the end we all get more with our hard-earned money. :hp:

I agree, this unit is a B+. I am happy with it as well.
