I currently have the Fujitsu MHU2100AT 100gb hdd in my Compaq CTO V2000. Would I see a dramatic increase in performance if I went with this hdd? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136159
I've thought about this one, but it is 20gbb less than what I currently have:

I also just burned all of the drivers from the Compaq website, but would it be worth it to pay $14.95 for the WinXP home recovery disks?

What is rpm of ur previous HDD? if your previous hdd is 4200rpm then u would see some improvement. You dont have to buy the recovery disk, just use a window xp installer cd you got all the drivers downloaded. Burrow from ur friend or some1, use the same product key on the sticker at the back of ur laptop.

I believe it is a 4200RPM model, but I could be wrong. http://www.fujitsu.com/us/services/computing/storage/hdd/discontinued/mhu2100at.html

you will see improvement from 4200 to 5400 rpm. Yet, $119 for a 3-4 year old notebook is not a wise investment unless you have no other choice. It is likely that after 3 years of use, components will start to fail.
