Has anyone checked if their DVD writer supports dual layer in -R ?

When I configured the laptop, I was under the impression that it supports dual layer both in -R and +R. Apparently, it supports only +R dual layer.

    btw, I have the Matsu****a UJ-840D.

Well no. Your screenshot shows your drive to have the +/- symbol, so its R+ and R-.

Actually if you check the screen shot again, DVD-R DL are not checked for both read and write.

Yaa, I see that. May(Hope) be firmware upgrades can fix it.
But again I do not many -R DL media on the market. Do we?

yeah, i know not many -R DL out there. I just wished that at least it's capable of reading -R DL. don't really care about writing -R DL.

Is the Pioneer better than my Matsu****a?
If yes, What are the chances of calling HP/Compaq and having it replaced with a Pioneer?

How about other V200Z owners? What brand/model of DVD writer did you get?

I don't even have the option of DVD-R DL. What version of Nero Tool do you have (mine is 2.27)?

it is probably not better as the speed specs are the same. i ordered my notebook way back in july 2005 and they probably have different drives in stock back then.
