There's a deal at Office Depot nearby my house : 899$ CAD for a V2310CA which come with 512 MB, TURION ML28, 80 GB, 6 cells battery and a DVDRW.

My only worry is the battery life. It seems there is a lot of different results from users to users. MOst of the forums guys seems to run their test on the ML30 with 6 cells battery, giving them between 2h30 and 3h00 on low task usage.

My question : will i get those numbers with the ML28 CPU?

I think it all depends on how you use your system. What programs you're running.

Me, I get 2:15 to 2:30... I use it for web browsing, Lotus Notes, and some SysAdmin stuff.

If you use processor and disk intensive applications, it will probably be lower.

Twelve hundred eighty gigabytes of RAM? Great Scott! And here I didn't think you could get more than two gigs in a notebook... ;)

Sheesh, with that much ram, everything would load up in an instant, he'd need no hard drive!
I read somewhere on notebookforums.com where somebody said that in some cases, getting more ram could actually make the computer slower, whats up with that?

:) Yeah, I know it's a lot of RAM. I initially ordered 1x256MB, then ordered from Newegg a 1GB stick.

I needed the extra RAM since 256MB is not enough. I thought it makes sense to order a 1x1GB, so that if I need to upgrade later on I just have to get another 1GB stick. can't do that if I went with 2 x 512MB... I would have to replace 1 or both stick, which is a waste.

so, 1GB (1024 MB) plus the original 256MB, totals 1280MB. Now, I don't have to worry that the shared video memory is eating into my total system RAM, since I got plenty.

oh, yeah, I know I mistyped. It's supposed to be MB. :)

Fill2k did u tried to undervolt your CPU yet? There's a guy in the forum saying he got near 2 times more battery time on his ML28 while working in full load. Maybe you could get 20 to 30 more min in low task such as web browsing etc. Let me know your results if your try this!

    Yes, it's undervolt-ed right now.

    4x - 0.900V (from 1.0V)
    9x - 1.150V (from 1.450V)

I didn't do any specific test.... but based on my type of usage, i gained extra 15 to 20 mins. It used to be 2:00h to 2:10h.

I really think it all depends on several factors. running the LCD to it's lowest brightness, Max battery(Minimal in RMClock), wifi/bluetooth OFF, type of applications, etc.
