I'm thinking about buying a V2000Z and plan on installing 7,200 RPM HD. Has anyone done this and what type of interface does the V2000Z use? Thanks in advance.

The V2000z uses an ide or PATA connector. No reason it should not work. Make sure you take the adapter off the old hard drive and put it on the new one before installing it.

My options are ATA-6 or ATA150. Which one is compatible? Thanks.

ATA 6/ATA 100. The 150 would indicate that it must be a SATA drive.

Beware the heat! V2000z's design is not suited for hot HDDs and 7200 rpm, as far as I know, run hotter. A cooler should suffice to keep the thing cool enough

7200RPM drives don't run significantly hotter than 5400RPM drives. The Hitachi 7K60 I put in my old zv5000z didn't. The current 7K100 and Seagate 7200.1 drives should be at least as good. Some of the poorer 4200RPM/5400RPM HD brands run hotter than the 7200RPM drives.

But yes, HP should have paid more attention to HD cooling in the V2000z design.
