I believe that only the DV2000 has an OPTIONAL webcam. Color is different. Otherwise, they should be the same, except Compaqs are usually cheaper.

    DV2000
    - supposedly 1" thick
    - 1.3 MP webcam
    - 3 USB 2.0
    - no firewire
    - can have Intel Duo Core + GEforce 7200 Option
    - normal LCD hinge
    - brushed, silver metallic texture
    - HP Quik Play 2

    V3000
    - thicker than 1"
    - no webcam
    - 2 USB 2.0
    - 1 firewire
    - Intel Duo core only has GMA950 video option. No dedicated.
    - Apple MBP type LCD hinge (restricts the back for ports)
    - black almost anodized like texture
    - No HP Quik PLay 2

    V3000 does have quickplay...

And from the picture on the last page, the HP doesn't look 1" thick. Where are you getting your information from?

The design is likely tappering as well. Really it doesn't sound right to me to have a 1 inch thick 14" that approaches the weight of the competing M100 which is a thickish laptop.

And starting weight of 5.4lbs sounds heavy for a 14", no?

No, not really, it weighs around the same weight as the V2000/dv1000. It also weighs the same as the Inspiron e1405.

Yes Thats where I was getting my info from. And what I meant was thta the Compaq doesnt thave the Quick Play BUttons like the HP which has the multimedia buttons.

However it seems the HP tapers like the sony SZ series. Thin in the front and thicker at the back.

The v3000 looks better and better.
