i just got a built in webcam for this series or the (v3500-3800) but i cant seem to find the slot on the motherboard where you connect it to. i have already looked under the keyboard. is it possible that it could be hidden under the palm rest?

i know that the v3000z did not come standard with a webcam but since the dv2000 did and is very very similar it probably could have a port.
the webcam/cable only cost $8 anyways.

If it has a slot, the service guide should document it. Compaq models tend to be more stripped down so I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't one.

where can i find one exactly? i know of the this one, but it does not show the connection of the cables to the motherboard only how to attach them (like screwing them on.
also the camera is for a v3700 so its similar.

if not, would it be hard to solder it to lets say a usb port somewhere on the board?

well i looked at the service guide and it says that there IS a web cam
    or "Web Camera"
its on page 83 under SPARE PARTS (includes Web camera bracket; not
    illustrated) Part Number 417113-001

also i bought a bezel for the lcd that would hold the camera and it says "V3000" on it.

    crap!!!
i accidentally pulled the palm rest off the bottom casting and the zif connector connecting the touchpad to the mobo came off, including the locking bar on the touchpad. now it wont recognize the touchpad!!!

You broke the locking bar too? That cant be good. Try snapping it back in if possible.

tried that but i looked closely at the zif connector and there are little indentations on the cable, looks like its damaged!!!
anyways, it would not really matter if i damaged the touchpad because i can only find a zif connector with a touchpad not just the connector
    crap

but when i do connect it and i go to control panel>mouse>hardware>reset hardware i get a BSOD (im using a wireless mouse)
but when i disconnect the touch pad and do that nothing happens

so what i am getting at is, is the port where the zif connector locks on the motherboard damaged too? cause that would be a B*tch!!

Its more likely the ZIF cable is damaged from forcedly pulled out. They are quite sensitive.

But since you broke the locking bar, you cant replace the ZIF unit on the mobo

well the locking bar on the mobo is fine, but its the locking bar on the touchpad that is damaged.

i was just wondering if there's a possibility that the motherboard ZIF connector was damaged too.

**** this sucks, i just got some new parts and being in such a rush damaged something else.

OK, thanks to Miner i found the webcam port on the motherboard but now it does not have the port solder on the motherboard.
so im guessing it would just be easier just to solder the 5 wires on the board?

well i just got a new touchpad and well, it seems like the slot for the touchpad is messed up. it still does not work. crap, so pissed right now
anyways, is there another alternative to not having a touchpad? since i use my notebook on a bed or couch there really is no room for a mouse :(
