For the past two weeks, my Compaq Presario V3019US has been randomly restarting. Its only happened so far while I'm surfing the net. A blue screen will pop up with lots of white text, which is very blurry and barely readable and the screen is there for only a second and then the computer just restarts.
Windows keeps saying its recovered from a serious error and asked me to create and upload a memory dump file. I created the file but haven't uploaded it yet.

Can anyone please help me with this!?!?!?!?!?!?

You can disable the automatic restart in My Computer | Properties | Advanced tab | Startup and Recovery Settings. That will let you read the BSOD message.

Microsoft's automated system sometimes returns useful info after you've sent it the memory dump. It's worth doing.

If it's hardware, overheating and bad memory are the two most likely culprits and given that you're merely browsing the web I'd bet on the latter. Running MemTest86+ is a good idea. It's more likely to be software though, possibly a side effect of a virus/worm/spyware infestation.

The BSOD screens are really blurry. I noticed that too on my V3019. As brian suggested try to narrow down the cause. If it is software then it is fixable easily and in the worst case you will have to reinstall Windows. If it is hardware then you will need to contact HP.

I have a V3000z, and I encountered the same problem a couple of times when I was using a software called Gigaget. After I uninstalled that sh*t, everything is OK now. Hope my experence would be helpful.

You can either a) do as brianstretch suggested and disable the automatic restart when the stop error occurs so you can read what the blue screen is displaying or b) use the link I provided that tells how to pull the data from the dump file. Either way it will allow you to read the error code and any other pertinent info regarding what program/hardware/driver which may have caused it so you can post it up here.
