Does anyone know anything about this laptop? I can't find any reviews.
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834107004

I'm thinking it might handle a friend's needs for a decent machine that will do moderate/low gaming (World of Warcraft, mainly), internet, movie watching, that sort of thing.

That 7150M card looks decent for an integrated.. though I'm not finding a lot out about it.

Is this a new model or something?

Yep, it is new. It's the preconfigured version of the V6500Z http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/s...=Everyday+computing&series_name=V6500Z_series

As for moderate gaming, my Go 7200 is not really too strong in that department and I would imagine that the 7150M is worse (but I'm not a big gamer, so maybe someone could chime in on this).

Gaming aside, it is a decent unit for general use. I would upgrade the ram to 2GB though, as Vista Premium will not be very sprite with 1GB ram (especially if you are gaming)...........

Thanks for the tip on the 6500Z. It looks like he could get that with the 8400GS for not much more ($50), if he gets a smaller HD.

    Think that's the best deal?

Yes, because the hard drive can always be upgraded in the future (the gpu cannot).

How's the LCD on these machines? Good?
    And general build quality?

I have one of it's sister models (dv6400) and the build quality is pretty decent when compared to the previous 5000 series notebooks. There is not much flex in the body and no gaps to speak of. The power connector is not as firm as the V5201, but I've had no problems with it breaking yet.

As for LCDs, this can vary. HP uses random manufacturer screens in any assembled unit. My newest is a QDS, which is much brighter than the SEC screen of my previous unit. No dead pixels on either.........

This is not a gaming laptop. It may be able to handle WOW, but if you're looking to game, get at least the 8400m GS.

Used a coupon code to get 20% off a laptop of 899 or more and got it for 751 before tax with the 8400GS, 2gig memory 1.8ghz dual core (AMD) and a 120gig 5400 rpm drive.

    WOOT!

I think that's a great deal :D Well, I didn't buy it ... my friend who I've been shopping around for, did.

Hopefully this really is a great deal

    Thanks.
