I'm sorry about bringing this up again but the other threads never gave a straight answer as to how to make this work. Someone just said "hotkeys" and next thing i read was "i've done it already" can anybody give me a straight answer as to how to setup VLC with the HP remote?

what do you think about vlc...
i would only use it for .mkv...but then i just installed the codecs and splitters so that i can use wmp...
i don't like to install programs...i am pretty crazy about keeping my laptop clean

i noticed that wmp with codecs played less grainy than vlc with better contrasts...

what do you think about vlc...

sorry i am off topic lol

very off topic!!! :p I like vlc because it let's me play incomplete downloads, plays every video type known to man, and i know the controls.

btw ur kinda contradicting urself when u say i don't like installing programs when u go and install codecs and splitters. I think VLC is safer :)

WMP's absolutely horrible. If you want to keep your computer clean, use nLite (or vLite, if you're using the Vistaster) to strip out WMP from your install disc and install only VLC.

I don't know if its even possible.

I know that you can use iTunes with the remote, but not sure about VLC.

Was looking at VLC's settings, can't find anything.

On a similar note, does anyone know how to change the Media Center button on the HP remote to make it open something else?

I think you have to change some setting in the registry for that one McGrady. I'm not sure on how to do it though.
