    hi all...
    I need an advice.
I have a HP pavilion dv6105us laptop, this laptop worked well till a month ago,
i was creating a new wireless connection via AD HOC, windows asked me for a reboot ....i did it but after booting up the wireless card was vanished no hardware at all......
there is no wireless card at the device manager ..... and the wireless card works fine on other laptop....but not on my laptop ......

hp support center said that I have to upgrade the bios to F38 ....but the file is unavailable .... it is 0 Kb after downloading ....and the support people said "we can download the file from the page, so it is your ISP problem"
hey wait a minute .... so if this is my ISP issue why there is people that can't download the file using different ISP's

check out the HP support answer
the worst thing, they don't want to give me straight info about my problem the vanished wireless card ...they said hmm maybe you just installed the wrong drivers .... I don't think so.....HP update installs everything automatically

so I need an advice to deal with this people and help with my problem

This problem is not new and its also affecting some of us dv9000 folks too. I have a dv9010us (i know, i know, why buy from circuit city) and I'm having the same exact problem. It's actually a huge issue that as of now HP is not acknowledging. If you take a look at HP's support forums, you'll see it lit up with posts like this. one thread is over 120 posts long with people lining up to say they are having the problem as well. And the dope who told you that F.38 not downloading is a problem with your ISP, well, all of us must be using the same ISP because none of us can download it.

man .... HP must have the worst support service ever ......

I have some info right here:
there was 2 versions of the F38 so far

    » F.38 Current 07-2007 3.14M
    » F.38 06-2007 2.55M

this bios presupposed to fix many problems on hp and compaq laptops...
the package seems to be the same for many models
so i was reading on other communities like this ....and there is allot of people that lost their video or display after installing this BIOS ....and the laptop makes only beeps and nothing else.....so now they have a $700 brick.....so maybe thats the reason why its down....

Junx69 do you know if there will be a fix for this problem, is there anybody working on this??????

    MLPL,

I would hope there is a fix in the works but from reading the horror stories on the HP site, I'd say it seems HP is ignoring the problem. That thread I mentioned on HP's site is over 130 posts now and there are several other threads with people having the same problem.

I had version F.38 on my machine but it did no good. I rolled back to every previous bios version with no luck either. The issue is definately hardware based, but I don't understand how mine worked for 8 months with no problem and the only thing that prompted this issue was when I got rid of Vista x64 to go to XP x64. Now no matter what OS i load, same problem, missing card from device manager. THis is getting damned frustrating and damn HP for their stupid whitelist. I would have just bought a newer internal draft-n card and be done with it but noooo. Sure I can just get a USB adapter but now it's just the point of the whole thing, i want mine working!

I have the same problem on my sister's pavilion dv6011ea! First it started happening in Windows XP. The wireless card just dissapered. When I installed drivers again it worked again for some time. I decided to install Vista, I thought it would fix the problem. But the problem is still here. Now installing latetest drivers for vista doesn't help too. Wireless card can not be found! I do not what to do. Can you give me link to hp support forums??

Hp support is the worse. Their answer to everything is either update bios or upgrade your drivers lol

I visited this site due to missing wireless card. I decided to register to post a reply because of all the problems trying fix my computer. I called HP and they stated it was hardware, but i cannot be without my computer at this time.

    We'll enough about my nightmare.

Try downloading HP BIOS f27 or higher. I already had F27 installed, but i downloaded it because the dam higher version would not download for me. I also noticed i was not the only one having this issue.

One you download you will get prompt do you really want to upgrade the BIOS, you will see your current version and the new version. In my case they both were the same version. I said yes, the download processed many files and then shutdown my computer.

I pressed power button and once it was complete, still no dam wireless card. So i tried what the HP tech told me that did not work. Re-start computer and press F10, press F9, and then F10.

Now my card is working fine.

BTW: No problem with card until computer went into hiber mode over a week ago.

I also tried to download the new bios, but the link isn't working. Now I will upgrade to HP BIOS f27 as you said. What does it do when you press F10 and then F9 and again F10?
