I have a dv6663us that I bought about three months ago. On a few occassions when I left the laptop alone and the screen went dark in energy saving mode, when I go back and touch the mouse or touchpad, the picture doen not return but only vertical colored lines. I can only get them to disappear by taking out the battery and unplugging then restarting. A photo is attached of the screen. HP tech support has benn zero help, its as if they don't read the entire e-mail and tell me to check and see if Vista has all its updates. I f anyone has any ideas on what is causing this please post.

This is clearly a hardware problem. Either the LCD cable is loose, or your GPU is starting to falter.
