Try the K-Lite Codec Pack. It has great support for several common formats. Perhaps you just got a poor MPEG-2 decoder.

Ok thanks ill try that, do i need to delete the codec pack i downloaded, or can i just download it str8 up.

You should be able to just install the K-Lite pack, but just to be safe, I'd remove the one you tried previously. Better to reduce the possibility of incompatibility.

I believe you can simply "download it str8 up".
I like the K-Lite Codec Pack a lot, too.
Edit: No reason to keep both codec's though. So why not remove it first and play it safe, as sr.agent.riot said. Keep the previous codec installer (just in case) if you're concerned, but you shouldn't have any problems. -
K-lite Codec 3.0 or Combined Community Codec Pack either one is good
