I am planning to buy a Compaq R3000z that comes with a 4200 rpm hard drive. Has anyone tried video capture/editing using such a slow drive?

    Thanks for your responses.

Video capture may work fine, but it really comes down to the bitrate you'd be capturing at. If you capture small video clips with a small bitrate, then it should be ok. If you plan on cpaturing video at 640x480 or higher using the Mpeg2 format and at DVD bitrates (I think it's 8MBits/s possibly more), this will need a fast hard drive to keep up with the data flow. This is where you'd definitely need a 7200rpm HDD.
