I just to share some my view on my new V2000 which I own for about 1 week. It is a centrino - PM 725a 1.6 ghz, 40 ghz hd, dvd rom only with bright view, 6 cell battery.

No dead pixel on my screen, yes. Anyway, it still has the common flaw:
    1. the left mouse button is a little bit loose(but not too bad on my as I comared it to some of the store demos).
    2. the laptop wobble little bit when place on my desk. The right side is not even with the left side. ( I think I am going to add some height on the right side on the rubber stand to make it even.)
    3. The cover doesn't close tightly.

and here is the one more but probably just my laptop(I had created another thread before on this):
    4. The Harddrive. My's come with Hitachi TravelStar 4200rpm. The harddrive works fine except it is making a "click, click" noise every 2 - 3 seconds when I just browing the web. Contacted HP help, they suggested run the HD analysis program in the bios setup. Well, it didn't help. Try the Hitachi hard drive tool as other suggested, still have the clicky noise. Don't want to sent the laptop to HP, So, I bought a new hd which is Fujitsu MHT2040 - 40 gb 5400 rpm. The problem solve. The Fujitsu is very quiet. I also bought a $15(include 4.99 shipping) 2.5 enclosure(newegg.com again) and put the hitachi in. It works with no problem and now I have a 40gb probable/travel external driver that use the usb power only.

    The pros:
    1. Screen
    2. Light - 5.2 lb
    3. Battery - I didn't spend too much with the hitachi drive. This is base on the new Fujitsu 5400 rpm drive. I have my screen setting to almost brightest setting.(I turn the brightness to the hightest, then dim down a little bit), wireless on. With just browing the internet(doing nothing else), 1.5 hrs later, I still have about 63% battery left. So, I guess the battery will last me around 3.5 with the 6 cell.
    4. Good wireless connection with intel pro. (I don't have any problem like others complain.)
    5. 6 in 1 media reader - it makes easier for me to download my digital camera picture. I don't have to use my desktop to do that anymore and I can use the hitachi drive to store my children's picture. Good combination for me.

And one more minor things to mention( you might think I am paranoid). My friend has a V2000z(with the sempron chip), when he shut down its computer, before the laptop turnoff the power, I can hear the speaker makes noise right before the power cuts out. I don't hear anything on my.

With the new HD and additional 512mb memory(default 256mb only), my laptop cost me $780 net. A little more than my budget. Overall, I am happy with it.

Does the USB port at the top-left corner work? I can't plug anything into that port.
