I have 4 GB of RAM

I just downgraded to XP and now the OS reports that I only have 3 GB of RAM

Where did the other 1 GB go?

Im guessing its 32bit XP which has limited RAM addressing.

Vista SP1(32 bit) reports 4 GB if it's installed.. However it is capable of using only the 3.2~3.5GB, as other 32 bit OS are..

ah ok so it's just a fake reporting thing.

But I hope my GeForce 9600M GT is able to use the reamining 1 GB of RAM like it did in Vista

Vista w/o SP1 will show 3gb, which is correct. When SP1 went into action. MS decided to show the total RAM installed instead of the actual RAM you can use. They did it so people dont wonder why 1gb of their installed RAM is missing.

Alot of users arent educated about the 32bit addressing limitation.
