hp released drivers for Vistax64 and now im debating myself if i need to upgrade
anyone has experience running Vistax64 on dv6000(z)? im sure all M$ products have their x64 software counterparts... will my ADOBE (Macromedia) work on x64? would QuickPlay 3 work on x64? any free AntiVirus for x64 (im using AVG and they said it's not yet supported)?
thanks and i appreciate any response.

Most any programs work fine in an 64 bit OS, they just won't run in 64 bit.
And don't be so sure about Microsoft having both 32 bit and 64 bit programs. My Office 2007 isn't 64 bit nor does Microsoft offer it that I know of.
But I've had no problems running 64 bit on my desktop, and all of m programs run perfectly.
As for virus protection, I'm not sure. Usually you do indeed need a 62 bit version of that, and right now I'm not sure if those are out in numbers yet. -
if Office 2007 compatible with Vista x64? i read on some forums that they're having problems

I haven't had any problems with it, myself.

Very few people seem to be having problems with Office. I'm not sure why they are. And, actually, Office 2007 is 64-bit enhanced (or at least it has a few 64-bit dlls and files to enhance operation on 64-bit systems). So will Photoshop CD 3 from what I hear.
All the software you list (except AV) will work fine. AV apps, and other apps that require a driver, will need to be 64-bit versions. My understanding is that the latest version of AVG (7.5.441) has the x64 issues pretty much cleared up. -
thanks jadedraverla!
how about the Visual Studio 2005? Paul Thurrot said it won't work (maybe he has the rc1 vista x64) -
Visual Studio 2005 has issues with both 32-bit and 64-bit Vista. A major update is due soon.

Visual Studio 2005 on Vista with SP1 installed is currently running just fine on my 32-bit version of Vista. The problem you run into may hvae to do with where you compile your bits. Vista will not like it if you compile your program to anywhere outside your C:\Users\{UserName}. I haven't tried to compile codes to a different drive, but so long you compile it within your User folder, you should be fine.
