Hello everyone. I own a HP Pavilion dv6258se and I noticed after I ran a session of Microsoft update a few days ago, the notebook takes a lot longer to boot now. Three minutes and some change to boot in fact. What considerably grew longer is the black screen after you type your password in. Any one having the same problems or am I just paranoid?

It happens just once when updates installed. Next time I have it normal, VERY fast restart. About 30-40 sec.

A lot of updates only install the first time you boot after you "install" em. Therefore your first boot after microsoft updates will be slower than normal.

HpUser9 I just started using the Hp DV-9428nr and I just when I mean just I mean a couple minutes ago maybe an hour ago installed the updates.

Then vista crashed-blue screen and told me something about dumping.

When I finally booted it was SLOW.

More then likely Vista was trying to recover something damaged during the update process.

Hello again. The computer still boots very slowly even after 3 days after update. Crispy1805, your explanation sounds interesting and I am wondering if you(or anyone else) have/has any possible solutions.

Why don't you try checking start up applications? and try checking the performance log, it's been very helpfull to me.

I tried checking start up applications through msconfig and I don't know where to find the performance log but this has not helped. Neither has the two performance updates. BUT, I think I might know the problem. It hit me like a slippery fish but I noticed about the same time I noticed the slow down in boot times, Norton said that Protection Center Updates were not installed successfully. Now I have used Norton before and boot times were not quick but yet not as slow as 3 + minutes. So, Norton said to wait for the next update, and if not to reinstall Norton again. Thanks for the help. If you think that something other is causing the problem please, please reply and tell me how to do it.

I found this problem too after vista updates on my dell. And this is after a fresh install. I still haven't found a solution to this. it takes me 3 minutes from vista status bar to desktop fully loaded with sidebar.
