    vista clean install

    Hi guys,

    I need help from you.

    I did the vista clean install with the key that came in the bottom of my dv6000.

    the problem is when i go activate this.

    It says that the key is invalid to activation.


    any help?

    was the key for xp, or a diff version of vista?

    What did you have to do? Are you saying if I do the same thing the key on the bottom wont work?

    you need to activate by phone if you use the key from the bottom of the laptop. It's still valid, just no online activation.

    If you used Magic Jelly Bean Keyfinder on the factory installed laptop, then that key can be activated online and does not require a phone activation.

    No, it does not need to be activated at all, online or by phone. As long as you have the xrm-ms file for your system, you can use that key without having Vista call home AT ALL.
