I'm just posting this in case it could possibly affect anyone running security software in VISTA. Better to know than be confused after you install SP1.
Here's the list MS gives:

It looks like most of the affected software already have SP1 compatible versions released, so people should look for the SP1 compatible release if their software is affected.

My Vista Home Premium x64 desktop has already updated to SP1. So far it seems to be a slight improvement. AVG gets along with it. The problems reported seem like par for the course for any Microsoft service pack and will get sorted out soon enough. I recommend installing the upgrade unless you're dependent on software that's known to have a problem with it.

I have been searching all over but haven't been able to find the upgrade. It doesn't show up on my windows update. Has Microsoft pulled the download as news items suggest or am I missing something here?
-
The "official" SP1 hasn't been released yet ... only the beta as far as I know ... it gets released in March (for 32 bit at least).
-
There was a thread that I read which stated that the release did come put and was pulled back within hours. The reason being issues with PCs not booting properly after the upgrade. If only I could remember where I read it!
-
Yeah - you read it from wherever I did - look above. I'm sure they mention it on one of those sites or google news, under science/technology, or Cnet, or engadget.
-
I'm guessing you have 32-bit that's why you can't see it on windows update, it's not out until mid-March for 32-bit users. -

So officially atleast SP1 wont be available until mid March. -

Vista SP1 is actually officially released, but only to the paid subscribers at this point. The great unwashed masses get their chance in March with the Windows Update rollout.
-
Well there was a few hour window the other day that they released it, I downloaded it via windows update, then it was yanked because of the issues stated above. Already had one BSOD but all in all I don't see a difference.
-
For upgraders: You will not see SP1 on windows update if you have the affected hardware that they had issues with. Thats why some people can see it some cant. You have to wait mid-march to april till they make sp1 flawless

That should be interesting as SP1 went to manufacturing in February.

After I installed the SP1 from Micosoft Updates about 2 weeks ago now.
So far 2 security updates had to be dowanloaded.
Something to do with .NET and the otherone had something to do with CAPICON.
So looks like the never ending critical updates are still comming.
But thank God they fixed the network issues.
I can now once again turn my media servers on and off remotely and file transfer is now very fast once again between computers on the LAN. -
Installed the SP1 over the weekend. Not a single glitch on my home PC and the laptop.
