I installed the x64 version before and though it will well most the softwares I had weren't compatable even with the x86 emulation.

Afterwards I installed the x32 version and went well. More compatable softwares are available. Some are not written for Vista yet but I'll wait and then install. Most of the softwares I loaded are working fine.

When Vista warns you that a software is not written for it you better believe it! Apple iTunes and Quicktime, and MusicMatch will work.

Three programs so far will not work with Vista at all. One will even crash Vista.

    Crashing program: Notebook Hardware Control
Incompatibles: Nero 7.... the upgrade doesn't work
System Mechanic 7 Professional.... though it states it's compatable, don't believe it. The programs' antivirus and firewall works intermittently. Sometimes the program recognizes them and MOSTLY not. And the most irritating is that you can only activate the program 3 times! So after installing/uninstalling to get to work, you're burned and the license is disabled, complete waste of money. Not recommended. e-mailed Iolo and no response yet. $70 down the drain. Sys Mech 6 doesn't work with Vista, period.

Vista Ultimate has more eye candy but I like it. The included game looks much much better in 3D. Speed is comparable with XP.

Yes, I too went through the same process, going from Windows Vista Ultimate x.64 to 32 bit, and the 32 bit version is ALOT better in my opinion, everything from the compatibility to the speed.

I run Nero 7 without a hitch from windows vista home premium.

NHC crashes hard though, blue screen with a vengeance.

For me Nero would stop installing and freezes. I downloaded the program twice 'cause the first didn't take. It took forever to download each one. Will try again someday. I got Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 instead which basically does the same thing as the Nero. A warning about the Roxio is that the drag-to-disc interface doesn't bid well when it starts automatically. It's best to disable at startup.
