Hi,
My 2500 is coming next week, and I am thinking to get rid of the famous bloatware by clean install.
Here on my campus, the Ultimate upgrade is only $9.99, I am planning to get a 64bit version install to my 2500 so that I can upgrade to 4GB ram.
But I am wondering if there is any downside for 64 bit?
Are the drivers for 64bits all available on HP site???
Any other concern before I clean install?
Thanks!

it depends on what you are using it for
16 bit apps do not work on vista 64
also, if you have devices that use unsigned drivers, they will not be compatible
check this article:

64 bit drivers should be available at the hp support site -
Unless you have a specific need, I don't know 4GB offers you much.
-
well, I don't actually need a 64bit, but the only thing is I will definately do the clean install, so if I use the 64bit, I won't install my system again in the future, which is nice. Other than that, 64bit is nothing for me...
I have another question,
If I upgrade from Home Premium to Ultimate, does that require a format in the harddrive? or I can just install the new parts from Ultimate??? -
there is a feature called in-place upgrade which lets you keep your files
-
Personally the upgrade is not worth thr headache -
-
I went from 32-bit Home Premium to 32-bit Ultimate without losing my programs/settings/documents/etc.
-
when you upgrade the OS, you really just entering a license key that enables features already there. going between 32-bit versions shouldn't yield any data loss.
