Yesterday I installed the Vista Home Ultimate 36 bit version on my HP dv5000.

After I installed it I was shocked because I had no sound-- so I updated my computer. The updated drivers worked and Vista recognized my Sound Card (Conexant AC-Link Audio), but there was one small problem:

There is no graphical representation of the sound on my monitor-- the green bars that grow with each push of the sound button. So, now, the sound can still be controlled with the buttons, but I can't tell what level its at unless I click on the Task Bar and click on the Speaker icon.

Another problem is that when I click the button that increases or decreases the sound, it only takes away a very small amount of sound-- like each press 5 bars out of 30, compared to the old green graphics that had like a 5/15 representation.

I'd appreciate some help, and links/drivers for this issue.

    THANKS!

    Welcome to the Forums.

Vista drivers are different from the XP drivers unfortunately, it will be a long time if ever that you will see the green bars again. The only thing you would be able to try is seeing how the old XP drivers run on Vista but I wouldn't recommend it.
