Hi,
I just bought a HP NC6230 for $200, to my surprise it looks brand new maybe this is on stock that haven't sold for 3 years. Box never been open manuals and CDs are all sealed.
The specs...
Intel Pentium M 1.73Ghz
ATi X300 64MB Dedicated
1GB DDR2-4300
60GB HDD 5400rpm
DVD/CDRW Combo
Intel 2200BG Wireless
Broadcom Gigabit LAN
Bluetooth
It comes with Windows XP Pro. What I want to know is will Vista run on this system or should I say will run fine/smooth.
Anyone who has the same laptop as mine with Vista running on it, i'll be glad to hear from you...
Thanks
PS: I will be dual booting.

It should run fine, but you may want to upgrade the RAM to 2Gb for better performance. I'm not sure how well the Aero interface would work on that old X300 card, though.
-
Thanks for the input TeraForce, I'll just go ahead and install Vista. Yup will make it 2GB.
I read somewhere that x300 works fine on Vista with Aero enable, I hope..... -
I have The NC6220 and you gotta bargain there i have Vista on mine never better Aero doesn't wanna be my friend tho
-
Yup it really is a bargain, anyway I think you have a GMA 900 which is not aero capable.
I'm just waiting for the Vista DVD to arrive. -
The only thing I would recommend upgrading if you want to run Vista is the RAM. 1GB is OK to run Vista but I would definately recommend 2GB for Vista to run optimally.
-
The good thing is the installed RAM is 1x1GB, I just ordered 1GB 533 earlier, might arrive tomorrow.
Thanks!
