First off I'm using the default HP nVidia GeForce GO 6150 drivers. Whenever I plug my monitor in Vista thinks that it is a projector instead of an external monitor. The projector icon will appear and it will switch to a lower resolution on my laptop. The resolution will then switch back to normal (1440x900) resolution and the projector icon will disappear. It will alternate between these two resolutions until I unplug the monitor. While the laptop is changing resolutions, nothing is displaying on my external monitor.

I tried some drivers from Laptopvideo2go.com, but I can't seem to get any of the drivers to work with my Computer. There was one that did work and solved the projector problem, but Windows Update overwrote the driver with HP's driver so now it's back to doing the projector thing again.

    Any Ideas?

I get the same thing with my monitor using HDMI at any resolution above 1680*1050. As if the signal is dropping out. The external monitors max resolution is 1920*1200. Please let me know if you find fix. I post the same if I find one.

If you haven't manually set the options for your external monitor, right click on your desktop and go to the nvidia control panel, you can specify all the settings for the external monitor inside of this control panel.
