I have a hp dv6000t and when I press the volume keys, nothing is showing up on my screen, but the volume does go up or down when pressed

It was showing up on my screen just 2 days ago, what can I do to get that back?

If you have Windows XP Media Center Edition, refer to this:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=185008

    Otherwise, read on:

By default there is no volume indicator installed on dvXXXX series for XP and Vista... unless you are in Media Center or QuickPlay, but they are all individual software based, not universal.

However, it sounds like you have installed some sorta Microsoft Multi-Media Keyboard driver, which comes with a volume indicator...
If not, go ahead install this driver:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...71-8973-4F20-8C16-252DFB7D8F9E&displaylang=en

If you have installed the driver and yet the volume indicator still doesn't show up, then you have to go to settings and re-enable it...

    TomTom:

    Just wanted to say THANKS!

I recently UPgraded my dv6645us from that POS vista back to XP Pro (anything to me is an upgrade over vista), and installing the MS IntelliType software got me the on screen volume meter!
As a bonus, it also allowed me to change the "Fn+www" key combination to launch Firefox instead of internet exploder.

To All: If you can't tell from his screenshot, just pick the "MultiMedia Keyboard" during the IntelliType install.

Big Thanks again for this great tip!

Gonna keep looking now if I can assign the quickplay & dvd buttons to other tasks now.

    (Web Home)

I just downloaded 64 BIT version.
Thanks, This also seems to be working just fine with the HP Dragon HDX9000

All the other buttons, ie TV, Mute, Wireless still continue to work after installation.

    64 bit
