has anyone else noticed that the volume levels in MediaPlay (when Windows is not booted) are *much* lower than the volume levels when playing a DVD inside Windows? I'd say mine are easily 2 to 1, meaning the volume is twice as loud in Windows - for example, vlume level 4 in Windows is the same as volume level 8 in MediaPlay.

Yes, I noticed this also. Using Quickplay I need to set the volume to 75% to max. Through windows I can run it 25% - 50%.
