Hm... well that does seem nice, I don't see anything revolutionary or really groundbreaking there. Especially when you consider how many arms and legs that will be sold for...(I mean that it will be expensive if you didn't catch my cliche lol)
-
well I like it because it has a carbon fibre chassis.
A non-elitist *******'s version of the Macbook Air but with slick ferrari *** appeal -
Hehe.. a non-elitist version of the macbook air? If this isn't more expensive than the air, I'll be surprised.
I'm a little disappointed however. Where's the Voodoo gaming laptops? -
.7" thick. Yes, this is cool. Also, its got a USB2/eSata port, which is kind of interesting. Yay for having two times the number of USB ports as the MBA! Other than that though, it seems quite similar to the Air. Awesome design though, really, really excellent.
-
Im curious. I will have to see what other info is released later today. Im not crazy about the X3100 card in there!!! They could of used something newer. But it looks the part.
Do any of you think they will release a bigger gaming laptop or is this it for the moment? Perhaps that could be left to the hp blackbird section of the company? Who knows? I was in the market for something new but I dont think I want an ultraportable. -
Same here man, unfortunately this is all I could exploit out of their site.
-
Yes, now I eagerly await the 1" thin 15.4" gaming rig!
-
Nice video with Rahul Sood explaining the product!!

I must admit it looks awesome. He hints at hybrid graphics later.

OMG OMG OMG , its the PERFECT LAPTOP! I want it soooo badly. T___T
-
It really is awesome!
Love the keyboard font!
Now let's see the 15.4" in June 20th -
-
I dunno, but sure hope so!
-
Watch the longer video below.
Essentially the Voodoo brand will just be split into these two models omen and envy. I dont know if that means different sizes of envy but I think not. However it will no longer focus on gaming and instead be more of a luxury innovative item. The hp blackbird with Voodoodna will expand its portfolio later on and will be solely responsibe for gaming.
I think that those wanting larger notebooks will have to wait for the blackbird notebook and this is it from Voodoo for the moment. Just guessing though...
http://www.notebooks.com/2008/06/10/envy-133-redefines-voodoo-luxury-notebooks/ -
I saw the video of the envy's intro. They said they gonna make the line between integrated graphic and dedicated blur. It's powered by Intel and for sure it'll be Intel's creation. Intel gpu? Line Blurr?
Unless Nvidia joins in, I dun think so.... -
As people have noted I look forward to the bigger sizes coming later in the month. That said, the pic of the seemingly 17" model looks really thin, so Voodoo may not be scaling up the graphics power with size.
That said, the notebook looks a lot better than the original video. The ports look a little cheap, and the keyboard leaves some questions unanswered, but it's good that the carbon fibre pattern takes the back seat to just a general more black gloss look (i.e. the carbon fibre doesn't stand out). -

I'd sure hope so considering mobile cards are BASED on desktop cards when it comes to high performance... >.<
-
there will be more laptops being shown soon. voodoo must first work out the best hype factor. please be patient ^_^
-
It's got integrated graphics + slow processor. How is this made for gaming?
-
-
Do you mean the smaller imaged machines on the bottom that show "June **" are different?
-
Then again, the images all look like they're the 133, so it could be different configurations of the 133? -
He said there will be lots of accessories for it. Perhaps an external graphics booster? I hope they release a 15 inch.
Does anyone know if this will be released in the UK or is it North America only for the moment?
Thanks -
I like it as a work laptop, something with a little music on it and just word docs and such. But I'm almost positive I will not like the price of it.
-
Hopefully, the design caries onto a 15.4" with a decent graphics card + Centrino 2 + 3 or 4GB DDR3 for under $2k. -
we will see if voodoo enters the 15" with 8800 club of AW and Clevo, that's what I'm most interested in. -
-
Yeah the price is said to be $2099...
-
It looks nice and all.. $400 more than the mba.. but if I was in for an ultraportable, I'd rather just buy the mba.. I want osx, lol.
The whole time the guy was talking in the video and explaining things.. I was thinking to myself.. it doesnt run osx.. though.. -

They have their own YouTube channel with a whole bunch of videos. (Some about Blackbird, too.) -
The finish looks slick.
-
Otherwise, you are stuck with a notebook with a 1.8" 4200rpm drive.
Andrew -
that is quite shiny
-
Andrew -
Piece of junk, by something else. It is just a pricey Hp. Nothing to look at here. If you want boutique go elsewhere, since Hp is no means boutique and elite, and they will never be.
K-TRON -
he has actally gone insane!!!
wow, what a fanboy. you hate it just because it has hp branding on it.
are you going to hate me if i told you i was typing with a hp notebook right now? -
This is probably the most original, creative laptop VooDoo has ever made. It's more than a logo and a paintjob, it's actually their own machine. -
I think he went insane because he saw the new proprietary laptops voodoo are bringing out, and with the help of HP the price is going to go lower and lower and be more affordable, and he paid a crap load of money for a Clevo
-
yeah, i really think hes just pissed off to because they actually have true custom laptops now.
-
You guys do not know what a custom laptop is. Mine is custom, there is not one other in the world which is the same.
Mine has my own custom crafted screen, with led inlets and microcontrolled lights, automatic fan control knobs, own harddrive bay sporting dual hdd's up to 30mm thick.
And yeah, a paint job which is like no other.
Their new laptops are not custom, they are exactly like HP's old ones. They are made of the same materials, in the same factory, and designed by the same people. And they are made on a assembly line, so I do not see custom anywhere.
Hp has not used an ODM for all of their laptops in the past, so are you saying most HP's are custom, cause they surely are by what youre saying.
I didnt pay a crap load of money for a clevo, I paid for their damn warranty and tech support, which has gotten the boot after Hp's acquisition. I paid to have them take care of my problems, but now the Voodoo warranty, and tech support is with HP. I basically paid a whole lot for a kick ass warranty, that was cancelled just 8 months after I bought it. You would be pissed too.
I bought from Voodoo for one reason, all of my mods did not void the warranty. Voodoo unlike all other retailers credits and allows users with A= certifiation and a degree in computer engineering to take apart their laptop and modify it in any way without voiding warranty. Well that was a huge bonus, which nobody offered.
Well, now I am completely screwed cause of Hp, and if god forbid something breaks, I have to go through HP's terrible tech support.
Oh yeah, this policy does not exist anymore with the acquisition, so basically now my warranty has been void, unless I can get parts by rahul, who signed my warranty lease. I am friends with him, and hopefully he will at least accredit me for parts if something breaks.
Well anyone who buys this new system will have shoddy hp tech support and unhelpful warranty support, so basically your just buying an Hp with a dinky Voodoo sticker.
By the way, Greg V and the Hp staff designed the laptop, nobody at Voodoo did. Rahul only approved things. All of Voodoo's designs were cancelled other than the large touchpad, so yeah, real Voodoo design.

Hp definatly doesn't make custom laptops, and never will. I went to the Hp "your life is the show" fest on september 5th, and saw, up front, the horrid designs that hp uses in their laptops. I mean, putting an hp laptop on display not too far from a w201 or any of the other 4 voodoo laptops their showed the lack of effort Hp puts into their mobile laptops. Not using an ODM doesn't mean Hp's products are custom, it just means that the company has the freedom to make the ****tiest designs and get away with it, and later call it innovation. It's just like Acer. They don't use any ODM and they made whatever laptops they want to, and follow whatever formats/standards they choose. Like 16 and 18.4in displays on laptops. What's the use? making a new laptop footprint and offering the same or less resolution display with the same components as a smaller notebook. It's not long before Hp starts rolling out similar oddities.
-
your first complaint was that the pc was crap and was not worth purchasing. IT DOES NOT look like and hp.
you also say its a bad thing hat they make it with carbo fibre (aka same material?) I would love all laptops to be made of this. its a great material, robust, light and strong.
You may not like the laptop but thats your own preference, but you should not go around telling people not to buy it just because of this. The fact is, its a great system compared to everything else out on the market.
Let them make their own decision. -
if you added all that, you customized it, not voodoo. All voodoo did was sell you a marked up rebanded celvo to mod. -
Yeah, but if I did any of my mods, I would have voided my warranty with any other ODM. I emailed all ODM's in north america, and found that only Voodoo will allow me to do the mods I have done without penalty.
I am very grateful that I did this, cause 2 months after I got my laptop, my graphics card died, from a defective surface mount resistor. Well Voodoo overnighted a new gpu to me the next day, and I was back in business. If I bought from xotic or whatever your preference, I would have had to pay over $1000 to get a replacement quadro for my notebook.
I did not want a defective gpu, but I was ready for it when it came. If i went with anyone else, they would have said, sorry you voided your warranty, you need to pay us in full.
I hope you catch my drift.
helios, I am sorry for badmouthing it so much, but its just that the hp influence is not doing much good for Voodoo, more killing them, and its pretty evident once you look a little deeper and past the items for sale. The hp stuff just doesnt have the same bang which the older omens had. They are too streamlined on the inside, and its the little things which make all of the difference.

Not true iElsayed.
Voodoo has made their own chassis in the past. The m320 and their was a limited edition 12" one, cant remember the number. Both of these laptops were not rebrands. They had sleek different styling, and they were limited edition envy's, signified by the palmrest sticker which said ENVY limited edition.
I think the other one was a platinum edition.
anyways, both were made by voodoo and they looked much better than the hp 133 is.
It is not a voodoo and will never be. It is an hp product, and once hp affiliation kicks in, it is not a voodoo anymore, its a voodoo/hp.
K-TRON -
K-TRON, it seems that you're jumping the gun a bit with your judgements of the Voodoo brand and their products as well. The Envy and Omen aren't out yet, how can you be so sure that they're terrible quality? Until independent reviewers and consumers get their hands on the products and actually use the things any judgement of the product is purely speculation.
Did you see Rahul's blog post with the car analogy? Are Lamborghinis any less of a car now that they are a subsidy of Audi, which is a subsidy of Volkswagen?
