Hello All
I am recently in the market for a laptop P4 with dvd burner. However, I am so confused with the choices out there. I have a Compaq for many years now and she runs like the first day I bought her, but i hear bad stories with Compaq lately. My first choice was Dell 9100 but I heard its too heavy and has a noisy fan and a short battery life. Now my choices are among Toshiba A75-S226 , Dell 5150 or Compaq HP (which model I dont know). Can anyone recommend any of these models or any model that has what I want(P4-DVD burner, reliability) Please HEEEELP MEEEEE!
PS. I am a Canadian but the prices are so much cheaper and the choices so much more in the US, is it a good idea to buy from US or not (i.e considering the warranty ant etc[]

We need to know what you intend to do with the notebook. Work, games, ?

I like HP/Compaq for you. Also consider Acer.

Thanks for the responses [
]. I need the Notebook for work, but I need something reliable and a DVD burner to back up my work. I am not gonna carry the laptop that much so the weight is not a problem with me. Keep those suggestions coming please.
P.S. Has anyone have any experiences with the Best Buy extended warranty? Is it worth the money? -
Take a look at these:

P.S. All of the above are pentium 4's like you said you wanted, but I am curious as to why you will not consider other processors.

If you're not playing recent 3D games, the zv5000z/R3000z Athlon 64 notebooks make much more sense than the P4-based notebooks. Faster, better battery life, 64-bit capable, hardware assisted virus/worm protection that WinXP SP2 enables (SP2 was released last week), no Intel marketing tax.
I never buy extended warranties. -
Well let me tell you about best buy warrentys.....1 st my wife had a toshiba p15 s 409 2.8 pent 4 .we bought at best buy at 1799 plus some change for extended warrenty she had the power supply cord break off in the back of the computor and we took it in to get it fixed they (best buy ) said no problem they said it would take 2 to 3 weeks to fix it well she is a collage student and told them everything was on the computor and the said they would work only on the outside ok no problem 4 weeks go by and finaly the send the computor back well i had put in two gigs of ram. best buy send her the wrong computor it only had 512 megs of ram and had nonee of her info but had someonelse info in teases we live in Cailfornia hum it also had xp pro on it... after two days best buy said that somwone one (WHO KNOWS) TOOK HER serial number off her and put it on another one well long storie short the give her a hp 5280 woth only one gig of ram but i guess its better than loossing everything thanks BEST BUY OR TEX OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT
